Ilario adores Saoutchik.  The legendary coachbuilder – wherever in the hereafter he resides – must really dig Ilario right back.  Because the French modeler is pulling out all the stops to celebrate the legend’s work.

Latest releases are particularly kick-ass (pardon my French)

Now available is a third version of the Mercedes-Benz 680S Torpedo Roadster – one of only 18 bodied by Saoutchik.  This replica is from 1927 (sn 35903) and particularly unique because it is a 4 seater.

And it is striking in two-tone red.

All the better to admire how Saoutchik took advantage of the Type 680’s low slung chassis and deep-sixing the running boards. Appreciate his verve like the Vee windshield, radical fender design, a torpedo body and exotic lizard-skin interior.

The second version by Ilario was issued only a couple of months ago.  It is the 1928 Mercedes-Benz 680S Torpedo Saoutchik that won Best of Show at 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.  Oh… and it sold for  $7,500,000 at RM Auctions in 2013.  Ilario presents the car as it appeared in the sparkle of the lights of the New York Auto Salon. And thanks to the exhaustive restoration, as it appears today.

Both the 2nd and 3rd version are limited to only 50 models.  The first Ilario version was limited to 120.  It is sold out, “fini”!

Ilario also is pursuing his passion for Voisin, and who shouldn’t follow?!  We just now have a second version of a 1938 Voisin C28 Cabriolet (sn # 53002).

The first version in two-tone black & red is as it was presented at Pebble Beach in 2006.  While a large majority of C28 chassis were equipped at the factory with “standard” bodies, this Cabriolet was dressed by Carrosserie François Saliot.

But the two-tone black & red is not the original color scheme.  The just released second version is the original blue color and is presented with top-up.

These French coachbuilders must be rejoicing in the glorious modeling being performed by Ilario!
