Gerald Freeman's Comments:
Rudi Caracciola was European champion five times in the thirties. He also was the number one driver for the Mercedes team. The name regenmeister, "rainmaster", was given to him for his great ability to drive as fast in the rain as in the dry. The painting depicts him in his W125 Mercedes having just passed Hans Stuck's Auto Union at the Nurburgring in 1937.
