Gary Whinn's Comments:
In the spirit of "artistic license" this is a picture based on both fact and fiction. The scene is purely imaginary but it takes place outside the actual premises of a Bugatti dealer based in Los Angeles in 1930.
One of the joys of being an artist is being able to put into a painting those things that you really like. In this homage to Ettore Bugatti, I chose the swooping curves of the Type 39 on the left and the famous lines of the Type 35 on the right. The beautifully simple lines struck a chord with my own aesthetic appreciation when set against the square symmetry of the building. This simple "play of geometry" is reinforced by the two pairs of people completing the scene.
