1926 Mercedes-Benz 630K Transformable Torpedo in 1:43 scale
In 1926, the Mercedes-Benz K model – with a shorter wheelbase – debuted.
Created using the technical genius of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, the supercharged Model K was claimed to be the fastest touring car in existence. Upon its release, motoring correspondent Edgar Duffield wrote:
“Forget the supercharger, and you have a beautiful touring car. Remember it, use it …. keep at least one eye well ahead – for the glint of sunshine on white-metal buttons!”
The chassis Ilario has chosen to model showcases the highly rare and desirable Saoutchik La Baule coachwork.
The original chassis is above.
The original car features a cleverly engineered hood that folds fully away and yet in the closed position provides the passenger comforts of a saloon motor car. No expense was spared in the fine detail of Saoutchik’s masterpiece.
The car has been valued at $1.4 million.
Limited Edition of the Ilario model is 135 pieces.
