The desire for speed has always been there… We built production cars so we could go racing. — CARROLL SHELBY
When production was at full throttle in March of 1966, Shelby created seven GT350 road cars per day, out of a hangar at LAX. Automotive artist Michael Irvine takes you into the hangar.
It was in this LAX hangar Shelby’s team created truly iconic automobiles. Featured is the 427 Cobra. While planes land and take off outside, in this building, Shelby produced cars that are destined to dominate racing circuits and tear up the streets. Here, they built the beasts.
