Serial # 35903 – as presented at Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance
Four seater – replica edition size limited to only 50 pieces
The supercharged S (Sport) type reflects the engineering brilliance of Ferdinand Porsche with a 6.8 liter high performance 6 cylinder engine. It lead into the SS and SSK models used as factory team race cars.
Few would deny that French coach builder Jacques Saoutchik built the most beautiful design for these outstanding S model Mercedes-Benz cars. His design took advantage of the Type 680’s low slung chassis and eliminated running boards. It featured a Vee windshield, German silver trim, radical fender design, a torpedo body and a most exotic lizard-skin interior.
This Mercedes-Benz 680S (sn35903) was originally owned by Parisian Vicomte de Rivard. Eventually the car came to the United States and was owned for over the past 50 years by a private collector until purchased by the current owner.
This car is the only one with a larger cockpit to accommodate a rear seat and thus have 4 seats.
The car and the replica are striking with its dress in two shades of red.
