LACK OF CONFIDENCE IS NOT SOMETHING HENRIK FISKER SUFFERS FROM

UPDATE MARCH 26, 2014: Aston Martin filed a lawsuit against Henrik Fisker alleging infringements & hurt feelings by “Project Thunderbolt”.  In light of this unpleasantness, Mr. Fisker has abandoned the Thunderbolt project.

Design master, Henrik Fisker, chose the 2015 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance to show off his “improvisation” on an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish. It’s called “the Thunderbolt”.

This latest design makeover shows Fisker hasn’t lost confidence from the setbacks with his Fisker Karma. It takes a lot of grit to shake yourself off after a failed investment of heart and soul… and get back on the horse. <said sincerely>

Henrik Fisker can bring his success in designing premium cars like the Aston Martin DB9 and V8 Vantage, Artega GT and BMW Z8 to the Thunderbolt. Read more…

JIM HALL’S SON READY TO DRIVE DAD’S CHAPARRAL AT SEBRING

JIM HALL’S SON READY TO DRIVE DAD’S CHAPARRAL AT SEBRING

Jim Hall is a Texan and hall of fame *wildcatter* in the racing car fields. Now 76 years old, he is the famed builder of the winged Chaparral race cars, a former Indy-car owner, pioneering aerodynamicist, and wayback in the day even an F1 driver for Lotus.

Hall’s Chaparral series of cars, whether prototypes or Indy cars, were so outside of the box, many of his designs ended up being banned. Too revolutionary!  Read more…

The Tale of the Five Camaros

The Tale of the Five Camaros

(1967 – 1969) I EAT WHAT I WANT!

In the beginning there was a swelling personal coupe market and yet it was also muscle car era! 1st Gen: your choice between 2 Chevy inline-six engines. at a minimum 140 hp. Or you could pump up to a range of V-8s, ranging from 200 hp in the Small Block to 375 hp in the 396 Big Block. Or you could put in a special order for the COPO options, and get a 427 cubic inch heavy breather.

(1970 – 1981) THEY TOOK MY MOJO AWAY

2nd Gen took the full bore of the Arab oil embargo with its regulatory changes like unleaded fuel and stranglehold on fuel economy. Engine compression, horsepower and torque were sacrificed.

“DON’T SEE THINGS AS THEY ARE, SEE THINGS AS THEY CAN BE”

YES! someone paid over $2 million for the 1949 Talbot Lago T26 Grand Sport as you see it below. YES! a $ 1 million bid won the 1948 Talbot Lago T26, and YES! a 1947 Talbot Lago T26 fetched over $500K…  each in squalid and dilapidated condition.

(Paris) The Artcurial Retromobile auction of what remained of the supreme Baillon Collection ended February 6. Sixty classics of impeccable pedigree and execrable upkeep were put up for auction with no reserve.

Top dog (so to speak) was the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider, which went for just a smidgen under $22 million. Making that Ferrari irresistible was the highly desirable covered headlights which even a pile of old soiled magazines could not hide buried in the shed it was discovered in.

HE IS ABOUT TO PREMIERE A CAR THAT CAN BEAT FERRARIS AT NURBURGRING AND GET YOU TO A *PTA MEETING* ON TIME

If you happen to be in Geneva this Thursday (March 5), put down your strudel and get to the Geneva Motor Show. Jim Glickenhaus is premiering his eagerly anticipated versatile supercar, the SCG003.

Jim has willed this true *racecar for the street* into existence. Such an objective may have been somewhat less overwhelming with the Ferrari 250 a half century ago. But by today’s standards, the gulf seems almost unbridgeable. On the other hand, Jim recently refused $40 million from a sheikh for a coachbuilt Ferrari P4/5 he had built. Read more…

What happens if you roll into a 7-11 where a hold-up is in progress?

How will you handle a drive-thru?

What happens when the hackers go after the software?
