Doesn’t supply rise to meet demand? Maybe not! Dodge has gotten so many orders for its stable of 707-horsepower Hellcats that it’s giving up the race to keep supply rising to demand.
According to Mr. Incognito at Chrysler: “Due to unprecedented demand for the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats, we are temporarily restricting orders while we validate current orders that are in the system.” That quote has raised some eyebrows at the Detroit Free Press.
Yeah, right. What’s going on?
The automaker said Monday it received more than 9,000 Hellcat orders since it began taking Challenger orders in September.
The 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat has a 6.2-liter Hemi Hellcat engine blasting 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Zero to 60 m.p.h. takes 3.7 seconds during which the powerplant burns through 1.5 gallons of gasoline per minute. You can leave a burn in your own driveway!
